The Adopt a Rural School project is focused on continuously improving the infrastructure of CONAFE’s rural schools. This includes construction, renovation and/or remodeling of school buildings, teacher’s quarters and other support structures including bathrooms and sports facilities. It also includes provision of school supplies and materials.
To work hand in hand with municipal authorities, school parents and adopters.
To build using sustainable, eco-friendly materials and local labor.
To encourage the community to embrace and maintain the improvements that result from these programs.
To create a dignified educational environment in 120 rural schools that will foster learning and student engagement.
Why do we need your support?
Schools in this region lack basic school materials and an adequate learning environment. During the rainy season floors become muddy, and many schools lack lighting and ventilation.
With your support we can provide students and teachers in rural schools a worthy and dignified learning environment.
100% of funds we receive are put directly to work in our programs. Contact us and get to know our adopter families and how they have transformed their schools.
How we put your donation to use
As a Foundation we take great care in engaging the community by teaming up with parents to gauge their kids’ educational needs and jointly developing a solution.
We then engage donors willing to “adopt” each school, matching them up with their chosen community.
Progress to date
In our first ten years we have built 22 new schools, 12 teachers quarters with bathrooms, six soccer and basketball courts, two community kitchens and a computer center equipped with laptops and internet for teacher training and development at CONAFE.
We have also built playgrounds, libraries and classroom furnishings and provided classroom materials, teaching equipment, sports uniforms and other supplies.
Your opportunity to make a difference
Support one of the our most compelling programs. This is the ideal time to join us and change education for rural school children. Donate or adopt a school.
